Introduction
Adobe Express is a website that allows you basic still image and photography editing as well as video production on the web.
1. Start Your Project
- Choose a Format: On the Home page, click the Video icon. Select YouTube for a traditional landscape report or TikTok/Reels for a mobile-first “social news” style.
- Import Media: Click Media > Upload from device to bring in your “A-roll” (interviews/stand-ups) and “B-roll” (supporting footage).
- Templates: Search the Templates tab for “News” to find pre-designed layouts featuring newsroom backgrounds and broadcast frames.
2. Organize the Timeline
- Assemble Scenes: Drag your clips onto the timeline at the bottom. Each segment is treated as a “scene.”
- Trim & Split: Hover over the edge of a clip to drag and trim its duration. To cut a clip, move the playhead to the desired spot, right-click, and select Split.
- Layering B-Roll: To show footage over a voiceover, drag the B-roll clip onto the canvas on top of your main video.
3. Audio & Voiceover
- Record Narration: Click Media > Audio > Record voiceover to record your script directly into the project.
- Enhance Speech (AI): Use the Enhance Speech tool to automatically remove background noise from field recordings, giving them a studio-quality sound.
- Background Music: Add a subtle “News Sting” or “Corporate Ambient” track from the Audio library to maintain energy.
4. Professional News Graphics
- Watch this video from Adobe to see the basics of how to add text and graphics in Adobe Express.
- Lower Thirds: Go to Text and search for “Lower Thirds.” Use these to display the names and titles of reporters or interviewees.
- Auto-Captions: Click the Task menu and select Auto-caption. This automatically generates subtitles, which is crucial for news consumed on social media.
- Transitions: Click the (+) icon between scenes on the timeline to add professional transitions like Dissolve or Push.
